Pupil Premium

At Gunton Primary Academy, our intention is that all pupils, regardless of their background or the challenges they face, make good or better progress and achieve high attainment across all subject areas. The focus of our Pupil Premium strategy is to support disadvantaged pupils to achieve this goal, including those who are already high attainers.

We recognise that disadvantaged pupils may face a variety of barriers to learning, including social, emotional, and academic challenges. Our strategy is designed to be responsive to both common challenges and individual needs, rooted in robust diagnostic assessment rather than assumptions about the impact of disadvantage.

High-quality teaching is at the heart of our approach. We aim to ensure that all pupils benefit from effective teaching, with targeted support in areas where disadvantaged pupils require the most help. This approach not only helps close the attainment gap but also supports the progress of non-disadvantaged pupils.

We are committed to:

  • Ensuring disadvantaged pupils are challenged in the work they’re set.
  • Acting early to intervene at the point need is identified.
  • Adopting a whole-school approach in which all staff take responsibility for disadvantaged pupils’ outcomes and raise expectations of what they can achieve.

Our strategy also considers the needs of vulnerable pupils who may not be eligible for Pupil Premium but face similar challenges, such as those with social workers, young carers, or those supported by external agencies.

We will monitor the impact of our strategy through regular assessment, pupil voice, and staff feedback, and adjust our approach as needed to ensure all pupils thrive.
